Meet the IT Lawyers Team!
Here at IT Lawyers Brisbane, we’re all about doing things differently.
That’s why the IT Lawyers Team is intentionally composed of individuals who have wide-ranging experiences that can add value to our clients beyond just their legal expertise.
Our team has decades of experience in IT and startups. This means when you’re with one of our team members, you can be assured you will be talking to someone on your terms and in your language. No need to worry about wires getting crossed!
We’re not here to meet billable hours like other law firms, we’re here to focus on our client’s needs. We believe that when we focus on our clients’ needs what follows is that our needs will be met. It comes back to the theory of comparative advantage. You do what you do best, we’ll do what we do best and mutual benefits flow. What you’ll come to realise is that with the IT Lawyers Team have not just one trusted professional advisor but a diverse team backing you up.
The IT Lawyers Team is small but our goal is to build a small client base who can benefit from a law firm with an intimate knowledge of their business requirements. We look forward to helping your business thrive by navigating your legal, compliance and governance issues.

Legal Practice Director
Michael (Mick) is a multi-disciplinary professional with qualifications across IT, law, science, accounting, business and corporate governance. In addition to being an Australian Lawyer he is a Risk and Governance Professional, Chartered Secretary and Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia.
Prior to law Michael spent around a decade working as an IT consultant, taking up roles as a developer, business analyst and project manager. Much of this work involved business process re-engineering and implementing Enterprise Resource Planning systems. However, he also spent his early days at CSIRO working on sugarcane modelling and cattle feed trials. His love for Australian agriculture, particularly AgTech, has never diminished.
When he is not trying to perfect his beef rendang recipe, he applies his business acumen and extensive tech consulting background to law, providing legal services to startups, scaleups and the broader tech community. If you are looking for a technology lawyer with real domain experience look no further.
Emily is a graduate of The University of Queensland and holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) and Arts. She has a unique wealth of experience from having run a social enterprise, to being part of the Australian launch team for an international tech startup and from having worked in sales and marketing at a SaaS company for the past two years. Emily has a passion for the intersection of technology and law, particularly as to the ethical implications of emerging technologies; her Honours Thesis was on the topic of “Artificial Intelligence for Criminal Sentencing in Queensland”. She looks forward to the opportunity to assist her clients in their legal matters to further their innovative products and services!
Governance and administration team
Fiona has a background in customer liaison and retail management. She is heavily involved in the daily operations of the firm, filling operational gaps in the IT Lawyers Team by working across accounting, marketing, human resource management and customer service. In addition to business administration Fiona plays a crucial role in governance, compliance and risk management within the firm.
Fiona serves the important role of dealing with customer complaints. She has been waiting patiently to help resolve any issues which arise, however, this has not proven to be a time-consuming role. She does thank you for your praises and encourages you to provide any feedback about the IT Lawyers Team directly to her.
